Ginisang Ampalaya / Sautéed Bittermelon

Most of the kids don’t like vegetables including me when I was a kid, for me it’s taste like grass, I didn’t understand why adult love it. However when I grow up it became my favorite, I used to make this as my snack (or if you are Filipino, lagi ko ito pinapapak ng patago).

This is a miniature size of Ampalaya. Usually this grow up to 12 inches long.

Bitter melon is actually a medicinal fruit. Yes, a fruit not a vegetable. You can get a lot of health benefits from eating bitter melon like it helps reducing Diabetes, helps to lose weight, it cleanse your colon and many more.  Ampalaya has strong bitter taste, since this edible medicine, but if you would sauté it you might like it and become your all time fave medicine I mean veggies.

Here’s the recipe, you can also make a normal size of it.

  • Garlic       IMG_2164
  • Onions
  • Fish sauce
  • Fresh tomato
  • Ampalaya
  • Water
  • Egg.

To lessen the bitterness of Ampalya; you to cut it thinly, soak it with salt and hot water leave it for 5- 10 minutes, squeeze tightly until all liquid drips, then rinse it.

Here’s my video, enjoy watching!

To God Be All The Glory!!!
